Preface Introduction The HP NetServer LXr 8000 is an Intel-CPU based network server that can use up to 8 GB of memory. This memory is situated on two boards that communicate with the rest of the NetServer via the midplane connector. Each memory board can hold up to 4 GB of memory, arranged in four banks of four buffered DIMMs. These DIMMs can be 64 MB or 256 MB, 50 ns EDO memory. The standard configuration of memory is 256 MB on the primary (right) board, as four 64 MB DIMMs in slots J1 through J4. Add memory four DIMMs at a time. If you use both boards, each must have the same type and number of DIMMs in the same slots. 1
