Printhead alignment is recommended in these situations: ● After replacing or reseating a printhead into its slot while the printer is switched off ● After a printhead crash ● When there are print-quality problems that could be caused by printhead misalignment ● After any operation affecting the carriage or scan axis Tools required The following items will be needed to complete semi-automatic alignment: ● Single sheet of tabloid or A3 plastic media suitable for inkjet printers with a lightness lower than 70% (i.e. a backlit sheet). If you don't have this media, use a high quality A3/Tabloid photo paper and store it in moisture free storage. Reference paper: CR675A. If you don't have any of previous media types, use a heavy weight A3/tabloid paper sheet and store it in moisture free storage. Reference paper: CHP765. ● Printhead calibration gauge. ● HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 scanner. Other brands and models are not supported. Contact your HP representative if you have trouble procuring a replacement. The OfficeJet scanner is used to feed the alignment plot to the Metal Jet printer.
