Using Mass Storage Devices Operating the Floppy Drive 3 Enter the following command line: tar -xvf devicefile pathname Enter where devicefile is the device file as listed by sam and pathname is the pathname of the file or directory containing files that you want to restore from the diskette. If you don't specify pathname, everything on the floppy diskette is restored. Listing the Files on a Floppy Diskette Use the following instructions to list the files on a floppy diskette: 1 Load the floppy diskette into the disk drive. 2 In a terminal window, enter the following command line: tar -tvf devicefile Enter where devicefile is the device file as listed by sam. All files on the floppy diskette are listed. You can mount the floppy drive as a file system using the SAM utility. Be sure to unmount the drive before removing it as a file system.
