Installing Windows 2000 Installing Retail Windows 2000 (Omnibook XE4500) Installing the HP universal printer driver This printer driver is a "Generic" postscript printer driver that allows printing to any HP postscript printer on the network without loading a specific driver. To install the driver: 1. Double-click \hp\drivers\hpmprt\setup.exe from the Recovery CD-ROM. The files will be unpacked to the Documents and Settings\"Your Username"\Local Settings\Temp. The directory "Local Settings" is hidden by default. To make it viewable open Explorer, click Tools then click Folder Options. Click the View tab and select "Show hidden files and folders". 2. Double-click the .exe file with the preferred language to install. en=English, fr=French, ge=German, inten=International English, it=Italian, sp=Spanish Installing the USB Wake utility USB Wake allows you to enable or disable the Wake on USB option. 1. Run USBwake.exe from \hp\drivers\usbwake. 2. Select Enabled or Disabled, then click Apply and Exit. Installing support for the USB-serial dongle The USB-serial dongle allows you to connect a serial device to a USB port. 1. Plug the dongle into a USB port on the notebook. Do not connect any serial device at this time. 2. When the New Hardware wizard starts, select Install From A List... and click Next. 3. Select Search In These Locations, then select the option Include This Location, type the path to the USB-serial driver directory (\hp\drivers\usb2ser) on the CD, and click Next. 4. Installing the HP universal printer driver
This printer driver is a "Generic" postscript printer driver that allows printing to any HP
postscript printer on the network without loading a specific driver. To install the driver:
1.
Double-click \hp\drivers\hpmprt\setup.exe from the Recovery CD-ROM.
The files will be unpacked to the Documents and Settings\"Your Username"\Local
Settings\Temp.
The directory "Local Settings" is hidden by default. To make it viewable open
Explorer, click Tools then click Folder Options. Click the View tab and select "Show
hidden files and folders".

Double-click the .exe file with the preferred language to install.
en=English, fr=French, ge=German, inten=International English, it=Italian,
sp=Spanish
Installing the USB Wake utility
USB Wake allows you to enable or disable the Wake on USB option.
1.
Run USBwake.exe from \hp\drivers\usbwake.
2.
Select Enabled or Disabled, then click Apply and Exit.
Installing support for the USB-serial dongle
The USB-serial dongle allows you to connect a serial device to a USB port.
1.
Plug the dongle into a USB port on the notebook. Do not connect any serial device at
this time.
2.
When the New Hardware wizard starts, select Install From A List... and click Next.
3.
Select Search In These Locations, then select the option Include This Location, type
the path to the USB-serial driver directory (\hp\drivers\usb2ser) on the CD, and click
Next.
4.
When finished, click Finish.
