Using the self-timer Use the self-timer to take a photo of yourself or a posed group photo. After you turn the selftimer on and press the shutter button, the camera waits 10 seconds before taking the photo. To use the self-timer: 1. Attach the camera to a tripod, or place it on a firm surface at an appropriate distance and height from the subject. 2. Slide the lens cover open to turn the camera on. 3. Frame your subject in the viewfinder. When you are ready to take the photo, press the photo quality button and the flash button simultaneously to turn on the self-timer.
