1. Prepare storage. After the delete command has completed, build the storage system using the following StoreOnce CLI command to discover and add storage to the system: hardware prepare storage This command will return quickly once prerequisite checks are completed but the process of actually creating the LUNs may take several minutes to complete depending on the amount of storage being added. If successful, this command will return "Command Successful." The command will fail if: • A previous prepare storage command is already running • There is no storage to be added • There are insufficient expansion licenses applied to allow the entire expansion to complete (in this case no expansion will take place until sufficient licenses are present for all added storage) • There are any "foreign" LUNs already present on the attached storage • There are any failed or predictive fail disks in either the existing or newly added storage. • If the storage is connected to an incorrect RAID controller or is "daisy-chained" from the wrong expansion enclosure. 2. Monitor progress. After the command returns successfully it is possible to monitor the status of the LUN creation process using the following command: hardware show storage status (or its alias: system show status) This command will return either of the following after a prepare command has been sent: Discovering or Discovered XXTB 3. Add storage. Once the discovery process is complete, run the following command in order to format the storage LUN with file system segments: hardware add storage This command will then create and expand the filesystem to use all of the storage. The process can take a long time to complete and the new capacity will not be available until it is finished. 1.
Prepare storage.
After the delete command has completed, build the storage system using the following
StoreOnce CLI command to discover and add storage to the system:
hardware prepare storage
This command will return quickly once prerequisite checks are completed but the process of
actually creating the LUNs may take several minutes to complete depending on the amount
of storage being added. If successful, this command will return “Command Successful.” The
command will fail if:
A previous prepare storage command is already running
There is no storage to be added
There are insufficient expansion licenses applied to allow the entire expansion to complete
(in this case no expansion will take place until sufficient licenses are present for all added
storage)
There are any “foreign” LUNs already present on the attached storage
There are any failed or predictive fail disks in either the existing or newly added storage.
If the storage is connected to an incorrect RAID controller or is “daisy-chained” from the
wrong expansion enclosure.
2.
Monitor progress.
After the command returns successfully it is possible to monitor the status of the LUN creation
process using the following command:
hardware show storage status
(or its alias:
system show status
)
This command will return either of the following after a prepare command has been sent:
Discovering
or
Discovered XXTB
3.
Add storage.
Once the discovery process is complete, run the following command in order to format the
storage LUN with file system segments:
hardware add storage
This command will then create and expand the filesystem to use all of the storage. The process
can take a long time to complete and the new capacity will not be available until it is finished.

The expansion can be monitored using the following command:
hardware show storage status

This command will return either of the following after an add command has been sent:
