2 Before converting to 3.4.x (or later) software Important - please read before converting CAUTION: This conversion process is data destructive. The conversion process will require both a hardware change and a complete software re-install. Any backup data will be ERASED at the start of the install process, there is no way to retain your data through this process other than by replicating you data to another StoreOnce appliance prior to conversion and then recovering it afterwards. In addition there is no published process to downgrade your product back to 2.x.x after conversion. CAUTION: The data capacity after conversion may be smaller than it was when running 2.x.x software. Due to reserving disk space for the appliance software, the capacity available for backup when 3.4.x (or later) software is installed will be reduced. The table below shows the available capacity before and after conversion. It is very important that you check the amount of capacity being used currently does not exceed the new capacity that will be available after conversion, otherwise you may not be able to replicate your data back or you will run out of disk space with your current backup retention policy. Warranty implications Converting to 3.4.x (or later) software does not invalidate your current warranty, and the serial number of your appliance will not change. However if you need to contact the HP support organization you will need to inform them that you have converted to 3.4.x (or later) software in order that they can support you effectively.
