Creating an Emergency Repair Disk It is very important to create an Emergency Repair Disk for the operating system. Use new diskettes for this purpose. For more information on how to create these diskettes, refer to the operating system documentation. Shutting Down Your Workstation Always power off through the operating system. Do not power off using the power button or reset button except during extreme circumstances when the system will not shut down through the operating system. Using the power button or reset button to power down may cause you to lose unsaved data from open applications. To shut down your Workstation: 1. Exit all applications. 2. Select Start > Shut Down. A dialog box appears with any shut down options that are supported by your operating system. 3. Select one of the options and click OK.
