1 VMware Site Recovery Manager overview The VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) protects the virtual machine systems on Vmware from disasters and other emergencies. It streamlines the protection of critical virtual machines with data, and continuously tests their availability for the highest level of business continuity. The Virualization Adapter requires two sites: a protected site (for production) and a recovery site (for backup and testing). Each site has one VirtualCenter server together with one SRM management server on a Windows server. The two SRM servers closely monitor the two sites and facilitate the workflows needed for scenarios like failovers and test failovers. SRM is a service on Windows that executes the script for the replicated LUNs discovery and failover via a part called the Array Manager. The script provided each array vendor is called Storage Replication Adapter 2.0 (SRA) and is required for SRM support.
