The red vertical line at the top center of the cardholder indicates the position of the next character to be typed. To realign characters for a correction, use the markings on the cardholder as a guide. First, position the characters in the small vertical lines at the top of the cardholder. Then, roll the paper down to the horizontal line at the bottom of the cardholder. This line indicates the base of the typing line. Position your paper so the bottom of each character rests just above the line, as illustrated above. The red vertical line on the cardholder can also be used to realign characters. Position an "i" or an "I" directly under the vertical line at the top of the cardholder. Then, roll the paper down to the horizontal line at the bottom of the cardholder.
