Top cover Cover release latch 1. Read the safety information that begins on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 21. 2. If you are installing or replacing a non-hot-swap component, turn off the server and all peripheral devices. Disconnect the power cords; then, disconnect all external cables from the server. 3. Lift the plastic cover-release latch near the edge of the top cover. 4. Slide the top cover slightly toward the rear of the server; the cover will stop after moving approximately 25 mm (1 inch). Lift the cover off the server, and set the cover aside. Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the top cover before turning on the server. Operating the server for more than 2 minutes with the top cover removed might damage server components. Removing the bezel On a tower model, make sure that you unlock or remove the front cover before you remove the top cover and bezel.
