Upgrading the BIOS The Intel® Compute Module BIOS and firmware is updated when the Intel® Modular Server System MFSYS25/MFSYS35 Unified Firmware Update(UFU) is installed. The Intel® Modular Server System UFU updates all system firmware. When an Intel® Compute Module is inserted into the Intel® Modular Server System the compute module's BIOS and firmware is automatically updated to the installed UFU version. For detailed step-by-step instructions on how to upgrade the Intel® Compute Module BIOS and firmware refer to the UFU release notes. Preparing for the Upgrade The following steps explain how to prepare to upgrade the BIOS and include how to: • Record the current BIOS settings • Obtain the upgrade utility Recording the Current BIOS Settings 1. Boot the compute module and press when you see the message: Press to enter SETUP 2. Write down the current settings in the BIOS Setup Utility Note: Do not skip step 2. You need these settings to configure your compute module at the end of the procedure. Obtaining the Upgrade Download the Intel® Modular Server System MFSYS25/MFSYS35 Unified Firmware Update (UFU) package to a temporary folder on your hard drive or a USB flash device.See "Additional Information and Software" for a link to the update software. Note: Before attempting a system firmware update, review the release notes distributed with the UFU package. The release notes may contain critical information regarding specific fixes, or other information to complete the update. Updating the BIOS The Intel® Compute Module MFS5520VI BIOS and firmware update is performed as a part of the Intel® Modular Server System MFSYS25/MFSYS35 Unified Firmware Update process. The Unified Firmware Update process is started from within the Intel® Modular Server Control UI.
