Power on the compute module. The CMOS is now cleared and you can reset it by going into the BIOS setup. BIOS Recovery Procedure 1. Download the BIOS image file to a temporary folder on your hard drive. 2. Copy all the files in the BIOS recovery package to the root directory of a bootable USB disk-on-key device. 3. Power off the compute module. 4. Remove the compute module from the modular server system. 5. Remove the compute module cover. For instructions, refer to Section , "Removing the Top Cover" on page 14. 6. Switch the BIOS recovery jumper (J9B9) to the 'Boot from emergency BIOS' position (pins 2-3). Details regarding the jumper ID and location can be obtained from the compute module Technical Product Specification and the Quick Start Guide. 7. Replace compute module cover. 8. Insert compute module back into the modular server system. 9. Insert the recovery media into one of the compute modules USB ports. 10. Power on the compute module. 11. The BIOS POST screen will appear displaying the progress, and the system automatically boots to the EFI SHELL. 12. Startup.nsh file executes automatically, and initiates the BIOS update with the recovery BIOS capsule file. The message of the 'BIOS has been updated successfully' displays once the recovery process is complete. 13. Power OFF the compute module. 14. Remove the recovery media. 15. Remove the compute module from the modular server system. 16. Open the compute module cover. 17. Move the BIOS Recovery jumper back to the normal operation (default) position covering pins 1 and 2. 18. Replace compute module cover. 19.
