21. Troubleshooting guide 21-1. Setting error Some functions of this unit may be disabled by some settings made on this unit. ö Cannot set up display. Í The demonstration mode is not turned off as mentioned in (page 65). ö Cannot set the "Text Select", "Side Select", or "Status" setting for the "Display Select" item. Í A display type is not selected as mentioned in (page 58). ö Cannot set up the equalizer. ö Cannot set up the Drive Equalizer. ö Cannot set up the Bass Boost. ö Cannot set up the Sound Enhancements. ö Cannot set up the Position control. ö Cannot set up the Loudness. Í The DSP function is disabled. ò "DSP Set" of (page 18) 21-2. Operation/wiring error What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of a slight operation error or a wiring error. Before calling for service, first check the following table for possible problems. General ö The key beep does not sound Í The Preout jack is in use. ò The key beep cannot be output from the Preout jack. ö Sound cannot be heard. ö The unit does not turn on. ö Information shown on the display is incorrect. Í The connectors are dirty. ò Clean the connectors. Refer to (page 4). Tuner source ö Radio reception is poor. Í The car antenna is not extended. ò Pull the antenna out all the way. Disc source ö The specified disc does not play, but another one plays instead. Í The specified CD is quite dirty. ò Clean the CD with reference to (page 49). Í The disc is severely scratched. ò Try another disc instead. Audio file source ö The sound skips when an Audio file is being played. Í The media is scratched or dirty. ò Clean the CD with reference to (page 49). Í The recording condition is bad. ò Play the media again or use another media. iHeartRadio source ö Station cannot be selected. Some functions of this unit may be disabled by

some settings made on this unit.

Cannot set up display.

The demonstration mode is not turned oﬀ as

Cannot set the “Text Select”, “Side Select”, or

“Status” setting for the “Display Select” item.

What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit

may just be the result of a slight operation error or a

wiring error. Before calling for service, ﬁrst check the

following table for possible problems.

General

The key beep does not sound

The Preout jack is in use.

The key beep cannot be output from the Preout

jack.

Sound cannot be heard.

The unit does not turn on.

Information shown on the display is incorrect.

The connectors are dirty.

Tuner source

Radio reception is poor.

The car antenna is not extended.

Pull the antenna out all the way.

Disc source

The speciﬁed disc does not play, but another one
