Troubleshooting Status Cause Picture orientation is not ■ Set the Orientation Sensor (page 28). accurate Flash does not fire ■ Check flash setting, and change as needed (page 15). Battery life is short ■ Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry cloth before inserting a battery in the camera. ■ Insert a charged battery (page 2). You cannot take a picture ■ Turn the camera off, then on again. ■ Depress the shutter button all the way (page 6). ■ Insert a charged battery (page 2). ■ Wait until the ready light is green before attempting to take another picture. ■ Transfer pictures to the computer (page 46), delete pictures from the camera (page 33), switch image storage locations (page 25), or insert a card with available memory (page 5). ■ If the camera is in Favorites mode, turn the Mode dial to a different mode. Computer/connectivity problems Status Cause The computer does not communicate with the camera ■ Turn on the camera. ■ Insert a charged battery (page 2). ■ Make sure the USB cable is securely connected on the camera and the computer port (page 46). ■ Make sure the EasyShare software is installed (page 39).
