Replacing the preseparation pad Change the pre-separation pad when the frequency of multi-fed documents increases. 1. Open the scanner cover. 2. Remove the pre-separation pad by lifting the pad up and out of position. Replacing the background strip(s) 3. Install the new pre-separation pad. Be sure it snaps into place. 4. Close the scanner cover. In the rare case that you may need to replace the background strip(s), follow the procedures below. 1. Open the scanner cover. 2. Lift the tab on the left side of the upper background strip and slide the background strip to the left while lifting it out of position. 3. Insert the new background strip by aligning the tabs with the slots and slide it to the right until it snaps into place. 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to replace the lower background strip. NOTE: When replacing the lower background strip, the tab is now on the right and the strip slides to the right. 5. Close the scanner cover. A-61771 September 2016 37

Replacing the pre-
separation pad
Change the pre-separation pad when the frequency of multi-fed documents
increases.
1.
Open the scanner cover.
2.
Remove the pre-separation pad by lifting the pad up and out of position.
3.
Install the new pre-separation pad. Be sure it snaps into place.
4.
Close the scanner cover.
Replacing the background
strip(s)
In the rare case that you may need to replace the background strip(s), follow
the procedures below.
1.
Open the scanner cover.
2.
Lift the tab on the left side of the upper background strip and slide the
background strip to the left while lifting it out of position.
3.
Insert the new background strip by aligning the tabs with the slots and slide
it to the right until it snaps into place.
4.
Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to replace the lower background strip.
NOTE:
When replacing the lower background strip, the tab is now on the
right and the strip slides to the right.
5.
Close the scanner cover.
