Troubleshooting Poor print quality For this problem: Characters not aligned correctly at left margin Characters with white lines General print quality problems Improperly formed or misaligned characters Try this solution: • Make sure you do not have hard-coded (extra) spaces at the left margin. • Clean the print cartridge nozzles. See "Cleaning the print nozzles" on page 32. • Align the print cartridge. See "Aligning the print cartridge" on page 32. • Make sure you are using Normal 300dpi or High 600dpi print quality, not Fast Draft 300dpi. • A print cartridge may be out of ink or low on ink. If the Ink Low message appears, install a new print cartridge. To view the ink level, check the print cartridge image shown in the Cartridge tab. • Remove and reinstall the print cartridge. See "Installing or replacing a print cartridge" on page 24. • Clean the print cartridge nozzles. See "Cleaning the print nozzles" on page 32. • If you are printing transparencies, try changing the fill pattern in your application software. • The print cartridge may be out of ink or low on ink. If the Ink Low message has appeared, install a new print cartridge. See "Installing or replacing a print cartridge" on page 24. Poor print quality
For this problem:
Try this solution:
Characters not aligned
correctly at left margin
Make sure you do not have hard-coded (extra) spaces at the
left margin.
Clean the print cartridge nozzles. See “Cleaning the print
nozzles” on page 32.
Align the print cartridge. See “Aligning the print cartridge”
on page 32.
Make sure you are using Normal 300dpi or High 600dpi
print quality, not Fast Draft 300dpi.
Characters with white
lines
A print cartridge may be out of ink or low on ink. If the Ink
Low message appears, install a new print cartridge. To view
the ink level, check the print cartridge image shown in the
Cartridge tab.
Remove and reinstall the print cartridge. See “Installing or
replacing a print cartridge” on page 24.
Clean the print cartridge nozzles. See “Cleaning the print
nozzles” on page 32.
If you are printing transparencies, try changing the fill
pattern in your application software.
General print quality
problems
The print cartridge may be out of ink or low on ink. If the
Ink Low message has appeared, install a new print cartridge.
