Using the freezer efficiently Defrosting Cooling drinks quickly Frozen food can be defrosted in different ways: - in a microwave oven, - at room temperature, - in the refrigerator (the cold given off by the frozen food helps to keep the other food cold), To cool drinks quickly, switch on the SuperCool function. See "SuperCool" for more information. Do not leave bottles in the freezer for more than 1 hour, closed containers could burst. - in a steam oven. Poultry It is especially important to observe proper hygiene when defrosting poultry. Never save the liquid from defrosted poultry. Drain it away and promptly wash the container, the sink and your hands. Danger of salmonella poisoning. Fruit should be defrosted at room temperature in its packaging, or in a covered bowl. Most vegetables can be cooked while still frozen. Simply place directly into boiling water or hot oil. 20
