Insert the other end of the data cable into the data port of the other device. Note Before you can use your phone as a modem, you must configure it for use as a data modem. Press / > Settings > Connections > USB > Data Modem. To allow applications to access your phone, press / > Settings > Connections > USB > Application Access. Configuring Windows XP® to Work With Your Phone After you have connected your phone to your computer, you must configure Windows XP to recognize it as a modem before it can be used. To install your phone as a modem: 1. Click Start > Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware, and click on Phone and Modem Options. (Menu options may differ depending on your XP settings.) 2. From the modem window, select the Modems tab and click Add. 3. When the Install New Modem Screen appears, check the box for Don't detect my modem, I will select from a list. Click Next. 4. Under Manufacturer, select [Standard Modem Types]. For Model, choose Standard 19200 bps Modem, and click Next to continue. 5. Select a COM port and click Next and then Finish to complete the installation.
