Taking Pictures with the Self-Timer The camera is equipped with ten- and three-second timers for self-portraits and to reduce blur. When using the self-timer, mount the camera on a tripod or rest it on a flat, level surface. Be sure to turn vibration reduction off when using a tripod (B 87). 1 Display self-timer menu. Self-timer 2 Highlight option. • 10s: 10s timer. Use for self portraits. Self-timer • 3s: 3s timer. Use to reduce blur. 3 Make selection (to exit without changing mode, wait five seconds). Selection appears next to Y icon in display. 1/125 F4.3 9 4 Frame picture and press shutter-release button halfway to set focus and exposure. 1/125 F4.3 9 5 Start timer; display in monitor shows seconds remaining before shutter is released.
