Movies Recording Movies Follow the steps below to shoot movies with sound recorded via the built-in microphone (for information on recording time-lapse movies, see page 49). 1 Rotate mode dial to p and select desired movie option (B 48). Exposure count dis- play shows length of movie that can be recorded. 1m17s 2 Press shutter-release button all the way down to start recording (camera will focus on subject in center of frame). Progress bar shows amount of memory remaining. Avoid touching microphone during 57s recording. 3 Press shutter-release button all the way down a second time to end recording. Recording will end automatically when memory is full or movie reaches file size of 2 GB. 57s A Movies See the Appendix for information on movie menu defaults (B 104) and on how movie files are stored (B 106). The self-timer is not available in movie mode. In all modes except Time-lapse movie, the flash will turn off and exposure compensation can not be used. Optical zoom can not be adjusted during recording; digital zoom is available to a maximum of 2×. If the camera is pointed at the sun or other bright light source during recording, vertical comet-like streaks ("smear") may appear in the movie.
