Image/Sound File and Folder Names Pictures, movies, voice memos and voice recordings are assigned file names as follows. DSCN0001.JPG Identifier (not shown on camera monitor) Extension (signifies the file type) Original still pictures (voice memo attachment included), movies, voice memos, voice recordings DSCN Cropped copies (voice memo attachment included) RSCN Small copies (voice memo attachment included) SSCN Still pictures Movies Voice memos Voice recordings .JPG .AVI .WAV File number (assigned automatically in ascending order, starting with "0001") D-Lighting copies (voice memo attachment included) FSCN • Files are stored in folders named with a folder number followed by a fivecharacter identifier: "SOUND" for voice recordings (e.g. "101SOUND"; A 56), and "NIKON" for all other pictures (e.g. "100NIKON"). When the number of files within a folder reaches 9999, a new folder will be created. File numbers will be assigned automatically starting with "0001." • Files copied using Copy > Selected images or Copy sound files > Selected files are copied to the current folder, where they are assigned new file numbers in ascending order starting from the largest file number in memory. Copy > All images and Copy sound files > Copy all files copy all folders from the source medium; file names do not change but new folder numbers are assigned in ascending order, starting from the largest folder number on the destination medium (A 60, 94). • Folders can hold up to 200 pictures; if a picture is taken when the current folder contains 200 pictures, a new folder will be created by adding one to the current folder number. If a picture is taken when the current folder is numbered 999 and contains 200 pictures or a picture numbered 9999, no further pictures can be taken until the medium is formatted (A 106) or a new memory card inserted. Image/Sound File and Folder Names
Pictures, movies, voice memos and voice recordings are assigned file names as
follows.
Files are stored in folders named with a folder number followed by a five-
character identifier: “SOUND” for voice recordings (e.g. “101SOUND”;
A
56), and
“NIKON” for all other pictures (e.g. “100NIKON”). When the number of files within
a folder reaches 9999, a new folder will be created. File numbers will be
assigned automatically starting with “0001.”
