First Steps Removing the Battery Turn the camera off before removing the battery. To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/ memory card slot cover and slide the battery latch in the direction shown 1. The battery can then be removed by hand 2. • Note that the battery may become hot during use; observe due caution when removing the battery. Turning On and Off the Camera To turn on the camera, press the power switch. The power-on lamp (green) will light, and the monitor will turn on. To turn off the camera, press the power switch again. • If the camera is turned off, hold down c to turn the camera on in playback mode. Inserting the Battery D Auto Power-Off (Standby Mode) The monitor will dim to reduce the drain on the battery if no operations are performed for about five seconds. The monitor will brighten when camera controls are used. At default settings, the monitor will turn off altogether if no operations are performed for about a minute during shooting and playback. The camera will turn off automatically if no operations are performed for another three minutes (A 105). Pressing the power switch or the shutter button while the monitor is turned off will turn it on. When the brightness of the monitor is set to the maximum setting by using the c button (A 8), the brightness will not change even if no operations are performed on the camera. 15

Removing the Battery
Turn the camera off before removing the battery.
To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/
memory card slot cover and slide the battery latch in
the direction shown

removed by hand

Note that the battery may become hot during use;
observe due caution when removing the battery.
Turning On and Off the Camera
To turn on the camera, press the power switch. The
power-on lamp (green) will light, and the monitor will
turn on. To turn off the camera, press the power switch
again.
If the camera is turned off, hold down
c
to turn the
camera on in playback mode.

Auto Power-Off (Standby Mode)
The monitor will dim to reduce the drain on the battery if no operations are performed for about five
seconds. The monitor will brighten when camera controls are used. At default settings, the monitor
will turn off altogether if no operations are performed for about a minute during shooting and
