CHANGING THE IMAGE DRUM When the image drum reaches the end of its product life, *** CHANGE DRUM is displayed in the control panel (*** is the color name). If printing continues without replacing the image drum, CHANGE *** IMAGE DRUM is displayed and printing is cancelled. Change the toner cartridge and clean the LED head at the same time as changing the image drum. Image drum life is approximately 23,000 sheets of letter-size media. This assumes a typical office environment where 20% of print jobs are one page emails, 30% are 3-page documents containing only words (no graphics) and 50% are print runs of 15 pages or more. CAUTION! • Never expose the image drum to light for more than 5 minutes and never expose the image drum to direct sunlight. • Never touch the surface of the green drum inside the image drum unit. 1. Switch off the printer and open the top cover. C7100/C7300/C7500 Maintenance • 193
