Main Features The DS-2000 digital voice recorder stores highly compressed DSS audio files on SmartMedia cards. The DS-2000 supports two recording modes: SP (Standard Playback) mode and LP (Long Playback) mode ( P.22). The included 16MB SmartMedia card records approximately 2 hours and 35 minutes* in SP mode and approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes* in LP mode. An optional 128MB SmartMedia card can hold up to 44 hours and 40 minutes* of recordings. The Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) reduces memory usage by turning the recorder off when it senses silence ( P.28). Recorded audio files can be stored in three separate folders for easy identification at a later time. The LCD screen displays file numbers, a real-time counter, remaining recording time, current time and date, operating mode, and warnings in a clear format. The editing capability allows you to insert additional recording into previously recorded audio files ( P.20). In combination with IBM's ViaVoice speech recognition software (optionally available from IBM), the voice data can automatically converted to text. * The recording time available may be shorter than specified if a large number of short recordings are made. (Use the remaining time and recorded time only as references.) 4
