When the camera is not recognized by the computer This section explains how to solve such problems as the camera not appearing on the computer screen (as Removable Disk) or not being able to display or save camera images on the computer when the camera is connected to the computer with the USB cable. Windows XP is used in the explanation below. Is the lens barrier closed? Is the monitor off? Check the card in the camera. Is the card correctly inserted in the camera? Is the card defective? Check the USB cable connection. Check that the camera is correctly connected to the computer with the USB cable. g"Connecting the camera to the computer" (P.160) 9 If there is another USB port on the computer, try connecting the USB cable to the other port. Restart the computer. Disconnect the camera from the computer and restart the computer. After restarting, connect the camera again to the computer with the USB cable. Troubleshooting
When the camera is not recognized by the computer
This section explains how to solve such problems as the camera not
appearing on the computer screen (as Removable Disk) or not being
able to display or save camera images on the computer when the
camera is connected to the computer with the USB cable. Windows XP
is used in the explanation below. Refer to the Olympus Web site for
easy-to-follow explanations with screenshots for this and other

Check the camera and cable
Check the camera.
Is the lens barrier closed?
Is the monitor off?
Check the card in the camera.
Is the card correctly inserted in the camera?
Is the card defective?
Check the USB cable connection.
Check that the camera is correctly connected to the computer with the
USB cable.

If there is another USB port on the computer, try connecting the USB
cable to the other port.
Restart the computer.
Disconnect the camera from the computer and restart the computer. After
restarting, connect the camera again to the computer with the USB cable.
Check the computer
Click “Start” – “Control Panel”.
