CHAPTER 3 Entering Data in Your Handheld This chapter explains how to enter data into your handheld. There are several ways to enter data into your handheld: s Using the onscreen keyboard s Using Graffiti® writing s Beaming data from another Palm OS® handheld that is close by and has an infrared port. s Entering or importing data in Palm Desktop software and then synchronizing with your handheld s Using Note Pad s Using a portable keyboard accessory, sold seperately, and attached to the universal connector Using the Onscreen Keyboard You can open the onscreen keyboard anytime you need to enter text or numbers on your handheld. To use the onscreen keyboard: 1. Open any application (such as Memo Pad). 2. Tap any record, or tap New. 3. Tap "abc" to open the alphabetic keyboard, or tap "123" to open the numeric keyboard. Tap here for alphabetic keyboard Tap here for numeric keyboard 4. Tap the characters to enter text and numbers. When a keyboard is open, you can tap to open any of the other keyboards, including the international keyboard. 17

Entering Data in Your Handheld
This chapter explains how to enter data into your handheld. There are several
ways to enter data into your handheld:
Using the onscreen keyboard
Using Graffiti
®
writing
Beaming data from another Palm OS
®
handheld that is close by and has an
infrared port.
Entering or importing data in Palm Desktop software and then synchronizing
with your handheld

Using a portable keyboard accessory, sold seperately, and attached to the
universal connector
Using the Onscreen Keyboard
You can open the onscreen keyboard anytime you need to enter text or numbers on
your handheld.
To use the onscreen keyboard:
1.
Open any application (such as Memo Pad).
2.
Tap any record, or tap New.
3.
Tap “abc” to open the alphabetic keyboard, or tap “123” to open the numeric
keyboard.
4.
Tap the characters to enter text and numbers.
When a keyboard is open, you can tap to open any of the other keyboards,
