Block Diagram
NVOUTK,NVOUTC,NVOUTM,NVOUTY
There signals are the actual
raster image data being printed for each color (NVOUTK:
Black, NVOUTC: Cyan, NVOUTM: Magenta, NVOUTY: Yellow).
When the signal NVOUTK (Pin11 of IC700) is low, the laser for Black color is turned on.
When the signal NVOUTC (Pin8 of IC700) is low, the laser for Cyan color is turned on.
When the signal NVOUTM (Pin6 of IC700) is low, the laser for Magenta color is turned on.
When the signal NVOUTY (Pin3 of IC700) is low, the laser for Yellow color is turned on.
NENB:
When the signal NENB (Pin2 of IC701) is low, the laser scanning unit is activated.
NADJUSTK,NADJUSTC,NADJUSTM,NADJUSTY
Prior to scanning each color horizontal line (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow), the output
power of the laser diode is adjusted.
When the signal (NADJUSTK: Black, NADJUSTC: Cyan, NADJUSTM: Magenta, NAD-
JUSTY: Yellow) is low, each color auto power circuit inside the laser scanning unit is acti-
vated to keep the laser power constant. After adjusting the laser power, the signal becomes
high.
PSEL:
This is the laser optical power selection signal.
When printing at 600 dpi, the signal PSEL (Pin4 of IC701) is low and the laser power is high.
When printing at 1200 dpi, the signal PSEL (Pin4 of IC701) is high and the laser power is
low.
NBD
This is a horizontal signal sent from the laser scanning unit, which detects
the horizontal
position of laser beam across the OPC (photoconductive belt ) roller.
The relation between this signal and video signal NVOUTK,NVOUTC,NVOUTM and
NVOUTY is indicated in the following Timing Chart.
POLCLK
This is the external clock signal for the polygon motor.
POLCLK (base of transistor Q704) is 2196.85Hz for normal speed printing mode and
1771.65Hz for half speed printing mode.
POLON
This is the control signal for the polygon motor. When this POLON signal (base of Q705) is
high, the polygon motor rotates.
NPOLLD
This is the polygon motor lock detection signal sent from the polygon motor drive board in
the LSU. The polygon motor speed is kept at 21968.5 rpm for normal speed printing. And
17716.5 rpm for half speed printing mode. When the polygon motor is rotating at
21968.5rpm.
