Receiving Faxes TEL mode! (answering all calls manually) Activating the TEL mode If the arrow (w) is shown on the right of the display, turn it off by pressing AUTO ANSWER . Display: TEL1MODE ON Receiving a fax manually s With the main unit 1 When the unit rings, press DIGITAL SP-PHONE or lift the handset to answer the call. 2 When: - document reception is required, - a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or - no sound is heard, press FAX START . CONNECTING..... Display Handset AUTO ANSWER STOP FAX START DIGITAL SP-PHONE TALK 3 Replace the handset, if using it. q The unit will start fax reception. s With the handset 1 When the handset rings, press TALK . 2 When: - document reception is required, - a fax calling tone (slow beep) is heard, or - no sound is heard, press FAX until a single beep is heard. q The only way to stop receiving a fax is by pressing STOP on the main unit. FAX Note: q If you do not answer the call within 15 rings, the unit will temporarily activate the answering device. The greeting message will then be played. If the remote operation ID (feature #11 on page 83) is entered during the greeting message, the unit will change to the TAD/FAX mode. q Up to 30 sheets of printed paper can be held. Remove the printed paper before it exceeds 30 sheets. To stop receiving Press STOP . While the document is in memory; - the display will show an error message and the following message alternately. Display: FAX IN MEMORY - slow beeps will sound (memory reception alert). See feature #44 on page 86. q Follow the instructions on pages 90 and 91 to solve the problem. q For memory capacity, see page 109.

fax reception.
If this feature is not required, set feature #46 to
“OFF” (p. 86).

Note:
If you do not answer the call within 15 rings,
the unit will temporarily activate the answering
device. The greeting message will then be
played. If the remote operation ID (feature
#11 on page 83) is entered during the
greeting message, the unit will change to the
TAD/FAX mode.
Up to 30 sheets of printed paper can be held.
Remove the printed paper before it exceeds
30 sheets.
Fax reception in memory
When a printing problem is detected, the unit will
temporarily store the received document into
memory.
While the document is in memory;
— the display will show an error message and the
following message alternately.
Display:
— slow beeps will sound (memory reception alert).

Follow the instructions on pages 90 and 91 to
solve the problem.
