• When appears on the screen while a button is being pressed, it means that the corresponding operation is prohibited by the unit or the disc. Menus tab Items Options (Underlined items are the factory presets.) Digital Audio Output Change the settings when you have connected equipment through this unit's DIGITAL AUDIO OUT terminal (see page 14). • Press ENTER to show the menu. Audio PCM Down Conversion • On: Select how to output audio with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz or 88.2 kHz. • Signals are converted to 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz despite the above • Off: settings if the signals have a sampling frequency of over 96 kHz or 88.2 kHz, or the disc has copy protection. Dolby Digital Select how to output the signal, to output • Bitstream: "Bitstream" so the connected equipment decodes the signal, or to decode on this unit • PCM: and output the signal as "PCM" (2 channel). DTS Note: • Bitstream: • Not making the proper settings may result in noise, possibly damage your hearing and speakers, and digital recording may not work • PCM: properly. Signals are converted to 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz. (Choose when the connected equipment cannot process signals with a sampling frequency of 96 kHz or 88.2 kHz.) Signals are output as 96 kHz or 88.2 kHz. When connecting to equipment not displaying the Dolby Digital logo. When connecting to equipment displaying the DTS logo. When connecting to equipment not displaying the DTS logo. 4:3 TV Settings for DVD-Video You can select how to display the image on the TV when you watch 16:9 images (DVD-Video) on a 4:3 standard aspect TV. • Pan & Scan: Video recorded for a widescreen is played with the sides cut off if Pan & Scan was specified by the producer of the disc. If 16:9 software prohibits Pan & Scan, the image will appear in the letterbox style (with black bands above and below the picture) despite the setting here. TV Screen • Letterbox: Video recorded for a widescreen is played in the letterbox style. 4:3 TV Settings for DVD-RAM You can select how to display the image on the TV when you watch 16:9 images (DVD-RAM) on a 4:3 standard aspect TV. • 4:3: Titles played as recorded. • Pan & Scan: Video recorded for a widescreen is played with the sides cut off if the Pan & Scan format is specified at the time of recording. • Letterbox: Video recorded for a widescreen is played in the letterbox style.
