Tuner Operations Automatic and Manual Tuning The following steps show you how to tune in FM and AM radio broadcasts using the automatic (search) and manual (step) tuning functions. If you already know the exact frequency of the station you want, see "Direct Tuning" on the following page. SOURCE SELECT CD STANDBY/ON CHANNEL STATION 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly on the remote or FM/AM on the front panel to select the tuner. Press TUNER to set the remote to the tuner operation mode. 2 TV FUNC. TAPE BAND TV VOL. FREQ. DIRECT 3 The station you were previously tuned to is received automatically. TUNER MPX CLASS .ACCESS DVD 1 2 3 LD 4 5 6 TV CONTROL TEST TONE 7 8 9 MPX MODE SIGNAL SELECT ANALOG SP A dB SURROUND ATT. CD DISC 0 1 FUNCTION DSP MODE MUTING 2 Press TV FUNC.BAND on the remote or FM/AM on the CHANNEL SELECT LEVEL RECEIVER STANDBY/ON EFFECT MASTER VOLUME 4 front panel to select the band (FM or AM). Each press switches the band: FM j AM Î AV MULTI-CHANNEL RECEIVER REMOTE CONTROL UNIT SIGNAL SELECT ANALOG SP A dB j SIGNAL SELECT ANALOG SP A dB 3 MPX MODE 2 32 3 Tune in the station. For Automatic Tuning Press and hold TV VOL.FREQ.(+/- ) for about one second, then release. The tuner starts searching the selected band and stops automatically at the first station it locates. Repeat to locate other stations. For Manual Tuning • To change frequencies one step at a time, press TV VOL.FREQ.(+/- ) repeatedly. • To change frequencies quickly, hold down TV VOL.FREQ.(+/- ) and release when you reach the frequency you want. When using the front panel Press FREQUENCY (+/-) until the frequency you want appears in the display. 4 4 Adjust the volume. MPX Mode If the TUNED or STEREO indicators do not light when tuning an FM station, because the station is too far away or the broadcast signal is weak, press MPX MODE on the front panel to switch to monaural (MONO) reception. This should improve reception enough for you to enjoy the broadcast.
