Section 7: Settings This section explains Settings for customizing your device. Accessing the Settings Tabs ► From a Home screen, tap Wi-Fi Settings Apps g Settings. Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that provides access to local area networks. For more information, refer to "Wi-Fi" on page 33. Wi-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct allows devices to connect to each other directly via Wi-Fi, without a Wi-Fi network or hotspot, and without having to set up the connection. For more information, refer to "Wi-Fi Direct" on page 33. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology for exchanging information over a distance of about 30 feet. For more information, refer to "Bluetooth" on page 34. Tethering and Mobile HotSpot These features cover both the Mobile HotSpot and USB tethering functionality. Mobile HotSpot This feature allows you to turn your device into a Wi-Fi hotspot. The feature works best when used in conjunction with 4G/LTE data services (although 3G service can also be used). The Mobile HotSpot connectivity is a wireless version of this same functionality and allows you to provide Internet connectivity to multiple devices. For more information, refer to "Mobile HotSpot" on page 35. Important! The Mobile HotSpot service cannot be active when device is connected to Wi‑Fi. Please disconnect your Wi‑Fi connection prior to active this service. Note: You must have a tethering plan on your account in order to use the Mobile HotSpot. You cannot use data on the device while using Mobile HotSpot. Mobile HotSpot Range You can select a transmission parameter for the HotSpot. You can choose to select and option that either maximizes your battery life or extends the range of the HotSpot coverage. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab g Tethering and Mobile HotSpot. 2. Tap Mobile HotsSpot range and select an available option. ● Standard: Increases your battery life by reducing the power used for HotSpot transmission. This option reduces the transmission range. ● High: Increases the range of your transmission while at the same time decreasing battery life. USB Tethering This option allows you to share your device's mobile data connection via a direct USB connection between your device and a single computer. The Mobile HotSpot connectivity is a wireless version of this same functionality and allows you to provide Internet connectivity to multiple devices. For more information, refer to "USB Tethering" on page 35. You can not mount your device's microSD card to your computer while using the USB tethering feature. If additional software or USB drivers are required, navigate to: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab g Tethering and Mobile HotSpot. 2. Plug in the USB cable between your computer and your device. 3. Tap USB tethering from the Tethering menu. Airplane Mode Enabling Airplane mode turns off calling, messaging, and data network features. It also turns off other connectivity features, such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. While in airplane mode, you can use other features of your tablet, such as playing music, watching videos, or other applications. Note: To use Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth when Airplane mode is enabled, turn them on in Settings, or on the Notifications panel. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab. 2. Tap OFF/ON next to Airplane mode to enable or disable the option. 3. Tap Airplane mode to view the current status. Note: You can also set Airplane mode from the Device options menu. Press and hold the Power/Lock key, then tap Airplane mode. Data Usage Monitor data usage, and control your tablet's connection to mobile data service. Note: Data is measured by your tablet. Your service provider may account for data usage differently. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab g Data usage. 2. Tap Mobile data to enable or disable your tablet's connection to mobile data service. ● When disabled, you will not be able to use the Internet, sync email, or use any app that requres a data connection unless you are connected to a Wi-Fi network. 3. Accessing the Settings Tabs

Wi-Fi Settings
Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that provides access to local area networks.

Wi-Fi Direct

Bluetooth

Tethering and Mobile HotSpot

Important!
