Access Point Names To access a wireless access point: ► From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab g More networks g Access Point Names. A list of the Access point names display. The active access point displays a bright green, filled circle to the right of the name. Network mode You can configure your device to either automatically select the LTE option (LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect) [by default]), WCDMA/GSM (auto connect), GSM only, or WCDMA only. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps g networks g Network mode. Settings g Connections tab g More networks g Mobile ● LTE/WCDMA (auto connect) is the default network mode option. This selection allows the device to choose the fastest connection from among the available connection speeds, including LTE. ● WCDMA only restricts your connection to only the 3G network. Connecting to 3G networks slows the data transfer speed and time. Network Operators Using this feature you can view the current network connection. Tap Network operators. The current network connection displays at the bottom of the list. Important! You must deactivate data service prior to searching for an available network. 3. Tap Search now to manually search for a network. 4. Tap Select automatically to automatically select a network connection. Note: Connecting to 2G networks slows the data transfer speed and time. VPN Set up and manage Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Note: VPN settings include storage of login credentials on your tablet. You must configure a screen unlock pattern, PIN or password before setting up a VPN. See "Lock Screen" on page 102. Configure a Basic VPN 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab. 2. Tap More networks g VPN g Add VPN. 3. If prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to change your screen lock password 4. Touch Add to add a new VPN: ● Name: Enter the name of the VPN. ● Type: Choose the type of VPN: PPTP, L2TP/IPSec PSK, L2TP/IPSec RSA, IPSec Xauth PSK, IPSec Xauth RSA, or IPSec Hybrid RSA. ● Server address: Enter the VPN server address. ● PPP Encryption (MPPE): Tap to enable, if applicable. ● Show advanced options: Tap to set other options, depending on the type of VPN. 5. Tap Save to save the VPN. Nearby Devices Share files with nearby devices using the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard via Wi-Fi. To share with nearby devices, you must connect to a Wi-Fi network. The devices you wish to share files with must also be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and must support DLNA. Important! Use care when enabling file sharing for nearby devices. When enabled, other devices can access data on your device. Turn File Sharing On or Off 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps g Settings g Connections tab. 2. Locate the Nearby devices field and tap OFF/ON to activate the feature. 3. Tap OFF/ON next to Nearby devices to turn file sharing on or off. Configure File Sharing 1. From the active Nearby devices screen, tap Nearby device to display file sharing settings. 2. Under Advanced, tap each option to control how content is shared from your device: ● Shared contents: Choose the type of content to share. ● Allowed devices: View and manage devices allowed to connect to your device. ● Denied device: View and manage devices restricted from connecting to your device. ● Download to: Choose a location to save downloaded content (Device or SD card). ● Download from other devices: Choose how to handle incoming files from other devices (Always accept, Always ask, or Always reject). 5. Tap Default setup to manually search for a network. Select either Automatic or Manual. Your device default is set to Automatic (to automatically search for an available network. Nearby Devices
Share files with nearby devices using the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) standard via Wi-Fi. To share
with nearby devices, you must connect to a Wi-Fi network. The devices you wish to share files with must also be
connected to the same Wi-Fi network and must support DLNA.
Important!
Use care when enabling file sharing for nearby devices. When enabled, other devices can access
data on your device.
