5.3 FIRMWARE UPDATE In some cases your X8 Accelerator device may require firmware update. Use the vgc-monitor utility to check whether or not the firmware is up to date. If the firmware is up to date, the following is displayed: ~ # esxcli vgc monitor drive vgc-monitor: 3.2.55402.C7 Driver Uptime: 0:06 Card_Name Num_Partitions Card_Type Status /dev/vgca 1 VIR-M2-LP-2200-2A Good Partition Usable_Capacity RAID /dev/vgca0 2222 GB enabled The following message is displayed if the X8 Accelerator device has older firmware. ~ # esxcli vgc monitor drive vgc-monitor: 3.2.55402.C7 Error: Could not get driver uptime Also, vmkernel.log will have the following Error message logged by the X8 Accelerator driver. ~ # cat /var/log/vmkernel.log | grep -i "Version Mismatch" VGC: [0000000402840003:E] SN SJ815609: CRITICAL. Firmware Version Mismatch: Firmware for drive 'a' (PCI 0000:86:00.0) is 47955, expected 52879. Please use the latest driver and firmware.
