Index Function - A desired program can be easily located by an index signal marked on the tape. How Index Signals are Marked An index signal is automatically marked on the tape when a recording starts. The INDEX indicator blinks in the display window while an index signal is being marked. • VCR IEp I L CAZ" • ri n • L i U. n ni•n -1 U 14 LI IS Note The index signal is marked only when you start recording from the stop mode. If the VCR is set to the recording-pause mode and then recording is resumed, no index signal will be marked. Locating a Desired Program - Index Search You can locate a desired program and play it back automatically by designating its index position. Up to the 99th index signal from the preset position on the tape can be located. Beginning of the program 33 3 Index number Rewind 44 / -1 Fast-forward 1 V s V 2 r 3 Present position (1/ 33 1 Insert a recorded cassette. 2 Set TV/VCR to VCR. 3 Press INDEX/GO-TO during stop or playback mode. The index number will be displayed in the display window. a VCR SP INDEX in IU 3 I i •nn e*4 I I • LJ To release the index mode Press INDEX/GO-TO on the Commander twice. 5 To locate a previous program on the tape, press -*A REW. To locate a program ahead, press IN4,- FF. The tape will be rewound or advanced rapidly and played back automatically. Every time an index signal is detected, the index number will decrease.
