Adjusting Settings You can adjust device settings to suit your preferences. To see available options, tap , Settings, then the Personal or System tab located at the bottom of the screen. You might want to adjust the following: ■ Adding or Removing Programs ■ Password ■ Front Light ■ Power ■ Memory Adding or Removing Programs Programs added to your Toshiba Pocket PC at the factory are stored in ROM (readonly memory). You cannot remove this software, and you'll never accidentally lose ROM contents. ROM programs can be updated using special installation programs with a *.xip extension. All other programs and data files added to your Toshiba Pocket PC after factory installation are stored in RAM (random access memory). You can install any program created for your Toshiba Pocket PC, as long as your Toshiba Pocket PC has enough memory. The most popular place to find software for your Toshiba Pocket PC is on the Toshiba Pocket PC Web site (http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc). If you update ROM programs using special installation programs with a *.xip extension, do not use the backup data which you made before updating ROM programs. To add programs using ActiveSync: You'll need to install the appropriate software for your Toshiba Pocket PC on your computer before installing it on your Toshiba Pocket PC. 1. Determine your Toshiba Pocket PC and processor type so that you know which version of the software to install. Tap and then Settings. On the System tab, tap About. In the Version tab, make a note of the information in Processor. 2. Download the program to your computer (or insert the CD or disk that contains the program into your computer). You may see a single *.xip, *.exe, or *.zip file, a Setup.exe file, or several versions of files for different Toshiba Pocket PC types and processors. Be sure to select the program designed for the Toshiba Pocket PC and your Toshiba Pocket PC processor type. Customize Your Toshiba Pocket PC
You can customize your Toshiba Pocket PC by adjusting the settings and installing
