OPERATION eratio n Basic operation of the D2040 can be divided into three fundamental categories: protection, operation mode, and output level. Protection With the protection capability it is possible to prevent set parameters from being altered easily. If protection is applied incorrectly, it is possible that the desired operation will be made impossible. Therefore, be sure that you understand how protection is applied before proceeding to other operations. PROTECT Switch (rear panel) MEMORY OFF KEY - PROTECT- OFF Position SOFTWARE PROTECT (UTILITY) OFF Setting ON Setting All operations enabled. Only parameter display, memory recall through RS-485, and protect on/off operations are enabled. KEY Position All operations except power switch disabled. All data transmission through RS-485 port (except bulk dump request reception) disabled. MEMORY Position Writing to memory, title edit operations disabled. Memory recall and edit operations enabled. RS-485 memory bulk data reception also disabled. (Other receptions enabled.) 13
