Preparation Connecting the FM and AM antennas Note for U.S.A. customers When you use the FM/AM tuning feature in the main zone only, connect the supplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna to the AMTENNA-1 terminals only. Refer to the right column. Both FM and AM indoor antennas are supplied with this unit. Connect each antenna correctly to the designated terminals. In general, these antennas should provide sufficient signal strength. Notes • The AM loop antenna should be placed away from this unit. • The AM loop antenna should always be connected, even if an outdoor AM antenna is connected to this unit. • A properly installed outdoor antenna provides clearer reception than an indoor one. If you experience poor reception quality, install an outdoor antenna. Consult the nearest authorized Yamaha dealer or service center about outdoor antennas. Indoor FM antenna (supplied) AM loop antenna (supplied) Connections ■ Connecting the HD Radio antennas (U.S.A. model only) This unit is equipped with two FM and AM antenna terminals. Connect the supplied AM loop antenna for the HD Radio tuning to the ANTENNA-1 AM and GND terminals, and the supplied AM loop antenna for the conventional AM tuning to the ANTENNA-2 AM and GND terminals. And also, connect the supplied indoor FM antennas to the ANTENNA-1 and ANTENNA-2 FM terminals. y You can select whether this unit tune to the conventional FM and AM stations or HD Radio FM and AM stations by selecting "HD Radio" or "TUNER" in "Input Select" (see page 96) and in "Manual Setup" (see page 110). Ground (GND terminal) For maximum safety and minimum interference, connect the antenna GND terminal to a good earth ground. A good earth ground is a metal stake driven into moist earth. Preparation
Both FM and AM indoor antennas are supplied with this unit.
Connect each antenna correctly to the designated terminals. In
general, these antennas should provide sufficient signal strength.
The AM loop antenna should be placed away from this unit.
The AM loop antenna should always be connected, even if an outdoor AM
antenna is connected to this unit.
