Checking Things Under the Hood To open the hood, first pull the handle inside the vehicle on the lower driver's side of the instrument panel. Then go to the front of the vehicle and releasethe secondary hood release. Lift the hood, releasethe hood prop from its retainer and put the hood prop into the slotin the hood.
