314 STARTING AND OPERATING Center Console Shifter - If Equipped There is an override for the BTSI that allows you to move the shift lever out of the PARK position if an electrical system malfunction occurs (i.e., dead battery). To access the override (using a flat-bladed screwdriver), carefully remove the override cover which is located on the right of the shift lever gate. 1. Turn the key to the ACC or ON position without starting the engine. 2. Firmly set the parking brake. 3. Press and maintain firm pressure on the brake pedal. Interlock Manual Override 4. Using the screwdriver, press and hold the override tab 5. Move the shift lever into the NEUTRAL position. through the access port on the center console. 6. The vehicle may then be started in NEUTRAL. 7. Reinstall the override cover.
