Knowing Your Mazda Doors and Locks Liftgate WARNING Turn Power Sliding Doors Main Switch OFF When Working on Vehicle: Leaving the power sliding doors main switch in the ON position while working on the vehicle is dangerous. If the open/close switches are mistakenly pressed, the power sliding doors will slide and hands or head could become caught resulting in possible injury. Always press the power sliding doors main switch to the OFF position when working on the vehicle. NOTE WARNING Open Liftgate: An open liftgate in a moving vehicle will cause exhaust gas to be drawn into the cabin. This gas contains CO (carbon monoxide), which is colorless, odorless, and highly poisonous, and it can cause loss of consciousness and death. Moreover, an open liftgate could cause occupants to fall out in an accident. Do not drive with the liftgate open. M Locking, Unlocking with Key • If there is a problem with the power sliding doors and you want to operate them manually, press the power sliding doors main switch to the OFF position and they can be operated manually. • If the power sliding doors main switch is pressed to the OFF position while the doors are opening/closing electrically, the beep sound will be heard and the sliding door(s) stop. If you press the power sliding doors main switch to the ON position again, the door(s) can be opened/ closed electrically. • When a sliding door is half open and the system is switched to manual operation, the door can be operated manually by first sliding it forward and back, and then in the desired direction. To lock the liftgate with the key, insert the key and turn it counterclockwise. To unlock the liftgate with the key, insert the key and turn it clockwise. Lock Unlock The liftgate can be locked/unlocked by inserting the key into the key slot of any door, refer to Power Door Locks (page 3-10). 3-18
