54 3 System upgrades • It is recommended to install the DIMM modules in the following sequence: For single processor • Populate slot A1 first, followed by slots B1, C1, D1, A2, B2, C2, D2, A3, B3, C3 and D3. • The memory slots for processor 2 are not available. For dual processors • Populate DIMM slot 1 of each CPU first (A, E, B, F, C, G, D & H respectively) followed by slots 2 & 3. • If mixing different DIMMs in one channel, the DIMM with higher rank and density should be populated from slot 1. Memory population for independent mode Single processor configuration Notes: 1. Place DIMMs in "X" location. 2. DIMM population must correspond to the above tables. 3. DIMM modules support 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB DIMMs. 4. DIMM modules support 8 GB and 16 GB DIMMs (support depends on availability). 5. Do not mix UDIMMs with RDIMMs. 6. Use single rank and dual rank RDIMMs only for Configuration 12. 7. For UDIMM and quad rank RDIMM, only a maximum of two DIMMs per channel can be supported.
