56 3 System upgrades Mirroring mode • For mirroring mode, the memory image in channel A is maintained the same as channel C and channel B is maintained the same as channel D. Therefore, the effective size of memory is reduced by at least onehalf. • Follow the population rules described in independent mode. • The DIMM configuration in mirrored channels must be identical. Channel A & channel C with identical DIMMs and also channel B & channel D with identical DIMMs. The DIMM type, size, manufacturer should be the same. • The same rule applies to the CPU2. Memory population for mirroring mode Single processor configuration Notes: 1. Place DIMMs in "X" location. 2. DIMM population must correspond to the above tables. 3. DIMM modules support 1 GB, 2 GB and 4 GB DIMMs. 4. DIMM modules support 8 GB and 16 GB DIMMs (support depends on availability). 5. Do not mix UDIMMs with RDIMMs. 6. 3-DIMM per channel configuration is only available for single/dual rank RDIMM. 7. For UDIMM and quad rank RDIMM, only a maximum of two DIMMs per channel can be supported.
