Subject appears closer. Button: zooms out from subject (wide angle). Subject appears more distant. Confirm the setting with the zoom indicator (information view). Digital Zoom The digital zoom function can be activated by continuing to press the button after it seems to have reached the end. It will further zoom the center of the field by 2 or 4 times. (Since this function combines the optical zoom with a digital teleconverter feature, the image becomes coarser the more it is zoomed.) This function will operate when the LCD monitor is on and the digital zoom function (p. 47) has been turned on in the recording menu. The digital zoom range is indicated by the blue portion (information view). • Double-click the button with the lens zoomed out to its furthest extent to activate the digital zoom function directly. 29 Basic functions
