1.3 System Requirements The ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device requires the proper configuration of all items documented in this guide. Failure to correctly configure the device will affect its operation. 1.3.1 Operating Environment The ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device must have exactly one supported USB type CAC or PIV card reader connected. See "Cards and Card Reader Requirements," on p. 13. To authenticate a smart card user, the ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device must be in an MS PKI environment, such as a Windows Server 2008, 2012, or 2016 environment. To send a secure e-mail message, an SMTP mail server and an LDAP address book are required. An example of an SMTP mail server is an MS Exchange Server 2007, 2010, 2013, or 2016. To check certificate status, an OCSP responder server is required. IMPORTANT Before you put the ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV device on your network, you must set up an Administrator password. 11 ScanFront 400 CAC/PIV V1.3.1 Configuration Guide
