Chapter 3 Configuring Remote Access to MPLS VPN Configuration Tasks for RA to MPLS VPN Defining PVCs To define PVCs, enter the following commands beginning in global configuration mode: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Command Router(config)# interface atm slot/port.subinterface-number point-to-point Router(config-subif)# ip vrf forwarding vrf-name Router(config-subif)# ip unnumbered Loopback number Router(config-subif)# pvc [vpi/vci number] Router(config-subif-pvc)# encapsulation aal5snap Router(config-subif-pvc)# no protocol ip inarp Purpose Specifies an ATM point-to-point subinterface. Enters subinterface configuration mode. Associates a VRF with the ATM point-to-point subinterface. Configures the ATM subinterface as unnumbered to a loopback interface. Note The loopback interface must be in the same VRF. Configures the PVC on the subinterface. Enters PVC configuration mode. Configures the ATM adaptation layer (AAL) and encapsulation type on the ATM PVC. Disables Inverse ARP on the ATM PVC. Configuring Label Switching To configure label switching on the interface connected to the MPLS cloud, enter the following commands beginning in global configuration mode: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Command Router(config)# interface atm slot/port.subinterface-number tag-switching Router(config-subif)# ip address address Router(config-subif)# tag-switching atm vp-tunnel vpi Router(config-subif)# tag-switching ip Purpose Connects to an MPLS cloud using MPLS ATM tagging. Enters subinterface configuration mode. Assigns an IP address to the ATM subinterface. Specifies an interface or subinterface as a virtual private (VP) tunnel. Enables label switching of IP packets on the interface. Configuring the VRF for Each VPN To configure the VRF for each VPN, enter the following commands beginning in global configuration mode: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Command Router(config)# ip vrf vrf-name Router(config-vrf)# rd route-distinguisher Router(config-vrf)# route-target {import | export | both} route-target-ext-community Purpose Enters VRF configuration mode and defines the virtual routing instance by assigning a VRF name.
