Turning off messages NOTE: You cannot receive Compaq Connections messages, including important Support messages that may be critical to the operation of your PC, while the service is off. Compaq Connections displays. 6 Click Choose preferences and then Deactivate to deactivate the service. The service is turned off until you reactivate it. Reactivating messages When you reactivate the Compaq Connections service, the service runs whenever you are connected to the Internet, and you automatically receive messages as they become available.
