Fast Ethernet Switching System User's Guide Port Monitoring The Port Monitoring panel, shown in Figure 31, enables you to monitor specific ports for network traffic and packet type. You need third party monitoring software to monitor traffic. Monitoring software is not included in the switch. Figure 31: Port Monitoring Port Monitoring Must be enabled in order to set up a monitoring port. Monitoring Port Is the port that does the actual monitoring. Port to be Monitored Slot and port number of the port to be monitored. Monitored Data Data that is collected by the monitoring port. Transmitted refers to packets that are transmitted from the port. Received refers to packets that are received by the port. Transmitted and received refer to packets that are transmitted from and received by the port.
