Logging in to SMU from a Local Management Host To log in to SMU from a local management host: 1. In your web browser's address field, type the IP address of one of the controller enclosure's Ethernet management ports and press Enter. The SMU Login page is displayed. If the Login page does not display, verify that you have entered the correct IP address. 2. On the login page, type the default management user name manage and default password !manage. 3. Click Log In. The Status Summary page is displayed. Updating Firmware After installing the hardware and powering up the enclosure for the first time, be sure to verify that the controllers and drive enclosures have the latest firmware. SMU enables you to view the software, hardware, and other version information for each controller and the enclosures. To view controller version information, select Monitor > Status > Advanced Settings > Controller Versions.To view drive enclosure information, select Manage > Update Software > Enclosure Firmware > Show Enclosures. For software and firmware updates, go to http://www.hp.com/go/msa. Select MSA SAN Arrays, select your product, and go to Support. Setting the Date and Time You can set the date and time manually or configure the system to use Network Time Protocol (NTP) to obtain them from a network-attached server. When NTP is enabled, and if an NTP server is available, the system time and date can be obtained from the NTP server. This allows multiple storage devices, hosts, log files, and so forth to be synchronized. Logging in to SMU from a Local Management Host
To log in to SMU from a local management host:
1.
In your web browser’s address field, type the IP address of one of the controller
enclosure’s Ethernet management ports and press Enter.
The SMU Login page is displayed. If the Login page does not display, verify that
you have entered the correct IP address.

Updating Firmware
After installing the hardware and powering up the enclosure for the first time, be
sure to verify that the controllers and drive enclosures have the latest firmware.

Setting the Date and Time

forth to be synchronized.
