Figure 20 Blank fields on I/O tab . To reset the I/O module: • You must reset one I/O module at a time. • Before each I/O module reset, check the I/O tab of the Disk Enclosure Properties window to ensure there are no other exception conditions that may conflict with the reset. For example, if you want to reset I/O module B, check that I/O module A is in an optimal state (and vice versa). • Wait at least one minute between resets. • There are two ways to reset the I/O module: • Remove and then re-insert the I/O module in each disk enclosure. See HP StorageWorks disk enclosure I/O module replacement instructions for instructions. See "Related information" on page 81 for document location. • Insert a serial cable into the I/O module and issue the reset command via the serial line (requires HP Services). Step 6. Upgrading disk drive firmware Estimated time to complete: Varies depending on the number of disk drives that require upgrading and the I/O load on the storage system. It can take 30 seconds to 3.5 minutes per drive to upgrade the firmware. Review the following guidelines and tips before proceeding with the upgrade: • To verify disk drive firmware support with controller software, see HP StorageWorks disk drive firmware support. See "Related information" on page 81 for document location. • Server-based management is required to upgrade the disk drive firmware. • Disks with Vraid0 cannot be upgraded online. • Although it is not required that the disk drive firmware be upgraded when the controller software is upgraded, it is strongly recommended that you perform these tasks together.
